Aropec Youth 2mm Blue Steamer is a top-value wetsuit that breaks the trend of poor quality kids wetsuits, not your bank. What we mean here is the kids wetsuit realm is an expensive one because the time and material costs differ surpassingly little between an adult and a kids wetsuit. The Aropec Youth 2mm Steamer doesn’t beat around the barrel, it pulls right in and provides your kid with a durable wetsuit with mild breathability and great thermal retention.
The 2mm super-stretch neoprene isn’t as stretchy as top of the line kids surfing suits but that is actually a good thing in terms of durability. Neoprene stretch is, for the most part, regulated by the volume of ‘air’ trapped in the cells within the core material, more stretch = less rubber therefore less material on the whole. Combine their superbly durable 2mm neoprene with a flatlock stitched seam and you’re set for years.
Flatlock is the most durable seam in wetsuits but the process creates micro pin-holes along the seams which can draw water in the suit. This lends the suit to moderately cold conditions, such as a swimming pool in winter (depending on where you live/how you feel the cold).
